Research

The research activities of the organization Doctors for Truth and Justice” (founded in 2021) are focused on documenting human rights violations in the Belarusian penitentiary system, with a special emphasis on the right to medical and psychological care in detention.

Main areas of research:

  1. Medical care in places of detention
  • Analysis of the state of medical assistance provided to prisoners in pre-trial detention centers and prison and penal colony.
  • Identification of systemic issues: lack of medicines, qualified care, medical refusals, isolation of patients.
  1. Psychological condition of former prisoners
  • Conducted interviews and case studies with people who experienced torture, psychological pressure, and solitary confinement.
  • Special focus on women and minors.

Condition of children of political prisoners

  • In 2023, the book From Two to Fifteen” (in Belarusian) was published, presenting real stories and dreams of children whose parents were imprisoned.
  • Research on social trauma and its consequences for the child’s psyche.
