The research activities of the organization “Doctors for Truth and Justice” (founded in 2021) are focused on documenting human rights violations in the Belarusian penitentiary system, with a special emphasis on the right to medical and psychological care in detention.
Main areas of research:
- Medical care in places of detention
- Analysis of the state of medical assistance provided to prisoners in pre-trial detention centers and prison and penal colony.
- Identification of systemic issues: lack of medicines, qualified care, medical refusals, isolation of patients.
- Psychological condition of former prisoners
- Conducted interviews and case studies with people who experienced torture, psychological pressure, and solitary confinement.
- Special focus on women and minors.
Condition of children of political prisoners
- In 2023, the book “From Two to Fifteen” (in Belarusian) was published, presenting real stories and dreams of children whose parents were imprisoned.
- Research on social trauma and its consequences for the child’s psyche.
